Student Union petition to stop 30% rent hike in Galway gathers steam

Galway student accommodation provider, Hubble Living, has hiked rents by a minimum of €2500 per year in a move that has provoked widespread backlash as students struggle to afford the increased costs.

The University of Galway Students Union has set up a petition on Uplift calling on Hubble Living to reverse the rent hike, and it has gained almost 1000 signatures over the last week.

We spoke to SU President Dean Kenny about the petition, what it hopes to acheive and the elections.
