Over the past week we reached out to all the Galway Central LEA candidates that were contactable via a basic email or phone number to give us one minute pitches for why you should give them a preference in your local election taking place in Galway Central LEA on June 7th. Of the Candidates who were contactable, seven responded to us over the past few days and over the course of this show you can hear those seven one minute pitches.

We also attended a meet the candidates event that was held by Galway City Community Network in May at Westside community centre – All the candidates who attended were asked to sign an anti racism election protocol which was presented by the Irish Network Against Racism – The is also included a community manifesto presented by Galway City Community Network, Galway City Partnership, Galway Traveller Movement, Amach lgbti+, Shining Light Galway, United Women Galway, University of Sanctuary and Galway communities against Racism and discrimation under the banner of #equalityvotesgalway network. All the Galway Central LEA candidates in attendance pledged to sign the Community Manifesto, the Disability Access Manifesto and Anti-Racism Manifesto – the candidates who signed the pledge were Eibhlín Seoige SD, Adrian Curran PBP, Martina O Connor Green, Mark Lohan SF, Margaretta D’arcy Independent and Mike Cubbard – Independent.
