Flirt FM is a community Radio station based in Galway city, operating under a community licence, is a member of CRAOL and operates under the principles of the AMARC Community Radio Charter for Europe and is licenced for FM broadcast by Coimisiún na Meán.

Due to the number of candidates and the resources available to the station at present Flirt FM will prioritise candidates running for election in our broadcast area with respect to the diversity of political approaches present and the guidelines set out by CnaM. Depending on resources this may take the form of interviews, panel discussion or in the absence of the candidate by arrangement a written statement of representation not exceeding 300 words which may be used as source material for representation. Flirt FM may also invite selected local candidates to engage in online surveying or polling. Interviews with candidates will be spread over a number of days.

Filming, photographing or third party recording of candidate interviews, staff and volunteers within the station is not permitted for private or use on any social media platform, as is unapproved usage of Flirt FM branding or audio on third party social media or video platforms, though candidates may be asked to be photographed or supply a photo of their selection for usage in online publication (soundcloud, website, twitter, instagram etc) related to our election coverage.

Flirt FM will endeavour to give our candidates equal opportunity to speak on questions or topics prepared by our staff which reflect our values as mentioned in paragraph one and the community that we serve, fair critical examination of views, questions relating to work and positioning in Dáil Eireann, party material, social media interactions, information published in Irish and European media sources and topics within the framework of the charter of fundamental rights of the European Union. Flirt FM reserves the right to not supply question lists in advance of recording or live broadcasts.

Time allocation for selected candidates will be developed across the election period using the guidelines provided for election coverage by Coimisúin na Méan Guidelines in Respect of Election coverage issued 30/04/2024 section 4.2.
