Biodiversity Week in Galway

Friends of Merlin Woods will host several events for Biodiversity week this year and
work with others to promote biodiversity this year in the woodlands and the city.

Monday 19th May

Woodburning and Signing with Merlin College and artist Debbie Reilly – this is a closed event.

Tuesday May 20th

7pm Wild Justice Galway City Nuns Island Theatre
Tickets are available through Eventbrite. This event is a collaboration between
Galway City Council Biodiversity Officer ,Friends of Merlin Woods and Foroige, an
educational piece of original theatre from Merlin Woods Collective. A story of Wildlife
versus Humans in the court of wild justice ,expert witnesses, and the audience as
the jury.

Wednesday May 21st

12-1pm Three classes from Radharc na Mara, Mervue Primary School will perform their original songs from the Music in Nature Music Generation Programme, hosted by Merlin Woods Community Garden, the first school music performance held here in the beautiful amphitheatre space . General public welcome to come along and hear the beautiful songs created by the young people.

9.30pm Galway Bat Group will be in attendance to lead a Bat Walk through Merlin Woods always an exciting nighttime walk.

Saturday May 24th

11-1pm Family Walk Discovering Nature with Caroline Stanley – accessible to all.

Sunday May 25th

11-1pm Orchids and Wildflowers with Ciaran Bruton. It is the season of wildflowers and one of the best times of the year for spotting the amazing array of wildflowers in the woodland habitats and learn all about the plants seen along the way.
All events commence at Merlin Woods Community Garden unless otherwise stated .
