Open call for submissions for “Scéal na Gaillimhe”
Fíbín sa Taibhdhearc is inviting artists, performers, makers, designers, and creatives from Galway City and County working through the medium of the Irish language to contribute to an exciting project that celebrates the rich tapestry of Galway. This open call seeks innovative and diverse submissions that can contribute a 10-minute piece of work to “Scéal na Gaillimhe”, a unique initiative that aims to capture the essence of Galway’s cultural, historical, and artistic heritage through the creative expressions of local talent.
Producer Pearse Doherty explained, “Our theme, “The Story of Galway”, invites creative professionals working through the Irish language to explore the city and county’s narrative from their own unique perspective. We encourage creatives to share with us their interpretation of what Galway means to them. The piece can reflect on the city’s history, cultural diversity, or any aspect that resonates with them.”
Fíbín sa Taibhdhearc will review all submissions and select 6-8 projects, taking into consideration their scale, feasibility, and creative vision. These selected works will be produced individually in the areas where their creators are from, making the entire city and county a canvas for this exciting venture. The culmination of these pieces will result in a larger, collaborative project to be unveiled in March 2024.
Proposals for “Scéal na Gaillimhe” should be submitted to [email protected] by 15th December 2023. Submissions should include a brief description of the project idea, the location within Galway it represents, and any special requirements or considerations.
