If members of the public are of the opinion that a programme or a segment of a programme or an advertisement broadcast on Flirt FM has: Breached a provision of Sections 46J (1) (a), (b), (c), (d) or (e); 46K (1), (2) and 46L (1) (a) and (b), 46 M (2) and (3) of the Online Safety and Media Regulation Act 2022 or Failed to comply with a provision of the Coimisiún na Meáin Broadcaster Codes (see 2023 Flirt FM Complaints Procedure document) they are entitled to make a formal complaint to Flirt FM. The complaint should be sent to Flirt FM/College Campus Radio DAC (Feedback & Complaints), Áras na MacLéinn, University of Galway, Galway, H91 RTR6, or by e-mail to [email protected].

Under the Online Safety and Media Regulation Act 2022 (“the OSMR Act”), any viewer or listener may refer a complaint to Coimisiún na Meán if they are unhappy about programme content on an Irish licensed broadcasting service, both radio and television, under the following categories:

Range of matters and relevant sections of the legislation:
• Harm, offence, incitement, and authority of State (section 46J)
• Privacy (section 46K)
• News and Current Affairs (section 46L)
• Advertising (sections 46M(2) or (3), 106(3) and 127(6))
• Retention of copies of programme material (section 46P(1) or (2))
• Media service codes and rules

Your complaint must be made no later than 30 days after the date of the broadcast. Please note that if your complaint relates to two or more related broadcasts, it must be sent within 30 days of the later or latest of these broadcasts.

When submitting a complaint under b) harm & offence, complainants can refer to Coimisiún na Meán’s “Code of Programme Standards”. This Code details a range of factors that may be taken into account when determining whether programme material is harmful or offensive.

Right of Reply

The Right of Reply Scheme has been developed by Coimisiún na Meán to provide for the correction of incorrect facts or information that has been broadcast about a person, where the assertions of such incorrect facts or information have impugned that person’s honour or reputation.

A Right of Reply is about the correction of incorrect facts or information; it does not provide for the broadcast of an alternative or contrary opinion. In other words, a person may not be satisfied with the manner in which a broadcaster has relayed information about him/her, but a Right of Reply will not be granted unless the facts or information are factually incorrect such that their honour or reputation have been impugned.

If the matter is one where the facts were correct, but not fairly presented, and was contained in a news or current affairs programme, you can make a complaint under fairness, objectivity and impartiality, as mentioned above.

Flirt FM/College Campus Radio DAC collects individuals’ data through our online volunteer application form, for the purpose of communicating with volunteers about station activities.
You can check what data is held about you, and request its deletion/restrict how your data is used by emailing [email protected] or by writing to College Campus Radio DAC, NUI Galway, H91 RTR6. Similarly you may also request a copy of your archived radio material, if any is held.

No third parties are given access to your data. All data is gathered and processed in accordance with data protection legislation, including the EU’s GDPR, effective 25/05/2018, and is held password protected and/or encrypted at our office in Galway. In the unlikely event of a significant data breach, Ireland’s Data Protection Commissioner and any affected individuals will be notified within the required time frame. College Campus Radio DAC reserves the right to make amendments to this Privacy Statement at any time. Updates will be posted here.

Website: We use Matomo Analytics (an open source analytics platform with 100% data ownership and user-privacy protection).
Social Media: Please refer to individual social media provider’s terms of service as they are outside of the control of the station.
Email: The email client for @flirtfm.ie addresses is Outlook. Emails to the studio are forwarded to a generic Gmail account and are accessible by station presenters. Music submissions are forwarded to a dedicated Music Gmail account for archival.
Texting and Message Box: If you have contacted the studio by text, email or message box, you can request to have these communications deleted from our mailbox.
Physical Competition Entries: Information is used strictly for alerting winners, and physical entries are destroyed on notifying winners.
