On Friday November 11th at 6pm Flirt FM broadcast a 90 minute show produced and presented by participants of the Speaking Up For a Change radio training course aimed at people over 55 run by the station. The course had 15 participants aged between 55 and 85, which ran for 10 weeks and was delivered by Flirt FM trainers. Trainees from all over the country were presented with QQI level 3 certificate in Media Expression at a ceremony in Dublin Civic Buildings on Thursday 22nd September. 

The ground-breaking Speaking Up For A Change project, spear-headed by Craol - The Community Radio Forum of Ireland and funded by The Community Foundation For Ireland, seeks to remove the obstacles that prevent older people's voices from reaching the airwaves on the issues that concern them. The project, designed and coordinated by the team at Grey Heron Media, has facilitated the training of nearly 300 people to become advocates and media-producers. These new community radio makers have gone on to produce 27 hours of radio that tackles the issues concerning older people today. You can listen to the Flirt FM crew below...
